Ides of March

Ides of March, 44 BC – Caesar was killed in the Curia, the standing building in bricks on the left of this photo.

Later, a temple was built in his honour: he was the first Roman that became a god. Already in 42 BC, just after the battle of Philippi, the Roman senatus had decided to build this temple of Divus Iulius, but it was actually completed by Octavianus (still not Augustus), in 29 BC.
Here it is the ruins of the temple today, where tourists still bring flowers to the tomb of Caesar.
